Presentación del libro La Ruta (vol. I)

The series La Ruta (Vol. I), which premiered on Atresplayer at the end of 2022, has received numerous accolades, including the Ondas Award and the Feroz Award for Best Drama Series, while its screenplay was honored with both the ALMA Award and the Feroz Award.
The series follows a group of friends from El Perelló across more than a decade, beginning with their farewell at the overcrowded Ruta Destroy — or Ruta del Bakalao — in 1993, and moving back to the moment they first entered Barraca in 1981, when both they and “the party” still retained their innocence.
La Ruta portrays the years in which Valencia danced without pause — a period that many would like to relive, but only a few can truly remember.

Roberto Martín and Borja Soler, creators of the series La Ruta, will join screenwriter Gabi Ochoa in a conversation about the writing process behind the scripts of its first season, recently published as part of the Colección Espiral / Setenta Teclas series. The Setenta Teclas association brings together active screenwriters who, for the past thirteen years and with the support of DAMA, have published two annual volumes featuring film and television scripts selected by vote among its members. Recent titles include the scripts of Upon Entry, As Bestas, Venga Juan, Maixabel, and Patria.

18:45 Por qué unos cortos si y otros no

Por qué unos cortos si y otros no

The panel will address one of the industry’s key questions: why certain works manage to enter festival programming, circulate internationally, and build a sustained career, while others — with similar proposals or even greater formal ambition — remain outside the circuit.
The conversation will feature Laurence Boyce, Head of Fiction Programming at PÖFF Shorts and one of the most influential voices in European short film programming, with a long-standing commitment to defending the short film format and supporting new generations of filmmakers in their international journeys; and Amélie Quéret, producer and founder of Respiro Productions, a company specialized in European co-productions, with more than twenty internationally selected and award-winning short films.
The combination of both perspectives will open a discussion from both the programming and production sides, as well as from the perspective of supporting emerging filmmakers: how selection decisions are actually made, what kinds of films are currently able to circulate within the international ecosystem, what festivals are looking for beyond “quality” or “originality,” and why certain filmmakers succeed in building long-term careers while others remain outside the circuit.
The conversation will also explore issues related to the international circulation of films, strategies for supporting new talent, and the often invisible criteria that influence both festival programming and the commitment of producers and distributors to particular emerging directors.

Más allá del coming-of-age: las claves estéticas de "lo joven".

A panel with Ka Ki Wong and actress Elizabeth Fang (I Heard That They Are Not Going To See Each Other Anymore) and William Wrubel (When We Saw Each Other More Often) exploring how to portray youth in cinema today without falling into the usual tropes.
Both filmmakers approach youth through deeply intimate perspectives, though from very different cinematic languages. In Ka Ki Wong’s case, through hybrid forms that blur documentary and fiction, capturing the emotional immediacy of her characters with a restless, urban energy reminiscent at times of 1990s Hong Kong cinema. Her film moves with spontaneity and emotional urgency, less interested in conventional storytelling than in building emotional states through fragments, gestures, the city and the intensity of lived experience.
In Wrubel’s case, through a sparse and observational mise-en-scène influenced by the cinema of his mentor, Angela Schanelec, as well as the use of Super 16mm film, which gives his images a particular texture and fragility. Rather than constructing a conventional coming-of-age narrative, Wrubel approaches youth throughspaces, silences and emotional disconnection, creating a cinematic map where the city itself becomes a central emotional presence.
Both films move away from more obvious or overdetermined portrayals of youth in order to construct more ambiguous, sensitive and truthful portraits of what it means to be young today.

El cortometraje español en 50 datos

The Spanish Short Film Coordinating Committee has carried out the study Spanish Short Films in 50 Data Points, a long-awaited project within the sector that was created with the aim of measuring, for the first time, the real impact of short films on the Spanish audiovisual industry.
The study will be presented for the first time at Cinema Jove, bringing together key representatives from the main institutions of the Spanish audiovisual sector that have supported and promoted the project: DAMA, ICAA and EGEDA.
This pioneering initiative analyzes both the quantitative and qualitative dimensions of the sector, highlighting the cultural, industrial and economic relevance of short films — a format that plays a fundamental role in the development of the audiovisual landscape in Spain.
The report offers a real and up-to-date overview of the sector based on data collected through 2025–2026, outlining an analytical map structured around six major areas — production, festivals, financing, distribution, context and industrial structure — and incorporating an unprecedented set of indicators that makes it possible to accurately assess the current state of the short film industry in Spain.
Beyond its statistical and strategic value, the report also includes opinion articles written by prominent industry professionals, reinforcing its role as a tool for analysis, reflection and debate within the audiovisual industry.
