LUNA DE VALÈNCIA: RADU JUDE. I DO NOT CARE IF WE GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS BARBARIANS
Radu Jude will be visiting Valencia to collect the Luna de València Award, which recognizes his contribution to contemporary cinema, and to accompany the retrospective dedicated to his films. On the 26th, he will be at La Filmoteca to present I Do Not Care If We Go Down History as Barbarians, movie that won, among others, the Best Director and Best Film awards at the 56th Gijón International Film Festival, held in 2018. "I don't care if we go down history as barbarians".  These words, spoken by the Council of Ministers in the summer of 1941, launched ethnic cleansing on the Eastern Front. The film attempts to comment on this statement. Mariana, a young artist, attempts to reconstruct the anti-Semitic Odessa massacre of 1941. As she develops her spectacular project, she is forced to confront and overcome all the objections that arise, both from the authorities and from the residents she hires as extras.
