Julia Fidel has been working at ZDF since 2024 as Head of International Fiction – Acquisitions. With her team, she is responsible for licensed films and series for ZDF, ZDFneo, 3sat and streaming, both for individual and package acquisitions from European partners as well as US studios.

Julia Fidel previously worked in various roles at the Berlin International Film Festival, most recently as Head of Berlinale Series, where she introduced the Berlinale Series Award. She studied film and media studies in Mainz, Berlin and at the Film University Babelsberg, where she headed the student film festival sehsüchte in 2005. Her wide expertise in the international film exploitation chain includes casting, assistant directing, and PR for Netflix in Germany and the UK. She frequently works as a choreographer, for example for the movies “Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” and the series “Babylon Berlin”.
