Cinema Jove unveils the poster for its 41st edition, created by illustrator Álvaro Bernis.

The 41st edition of Cinema Jove now has its official poster. Created by illustrator Álvaro Bernis, the image embraces a colourful and minimalist aesthetic that places the audience at the centre of the festival’s visual identity.

The poster presentation featured a conversation on the relationship between cinema and design led by communication expert Ona Bascuñán, joined by the festival’s art director Ada Diez and illustrator and lecturer Marta Pina.

The discussion explored how cinematic narratives are translated into graphic design through elements such as film posters, as well as the importance of recognising design within the audiovisual field. In this regard, participants highlighted that Cinema Jove’s awards include a category for Best Poster.

This year’s visual identity focuses on the connection between the festival and its audience, using a vibrant colour palette and a composition designed to convey the youthful energy of the event. The image features an empty cinema seat as an invitation for each viewer to symbolically take their place within the festival.

The conversation was accompanied by a screening of ‘Capitanes’, a short film directed byKevin Castellano and Edu Hirschfeld, which won the Best Poster award at the festival’s 39th edition thanks to a design created by the studio Realmente Bravo.

With a background in illustration, comics and animation cinema, Álvaro Bernis has published work in international media outlets such as The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Atlantic and The Guardian, in addition to collaborating with brands including Apple, Quiksilver and Hermès.
